The purpose of this role is to ensure an optimal transport network design is in place based on Vodafone Group standards to help ensure best customer experience.
Key accountabilities and decision ownership:
- Manage and develop the technical RFQs, RFP including vendor selections evaluation and scoring.
- Manage a team of experts to deliver the end to end Transport layer.
- Manage capacity planning for all transport domains.
- Follow Vodafone Group design and architecture guidelines and best practices.
- Support other business stakeholders when it comes to new features,
- Develop the Strategy and arch guidelines for Backhaul, Core Backbone and International Transport.
- Develop and implement the strategy for all International connectivity for both data and voice services.
- Lead Technical RFQ, RFP and Vendors selection process.
- Lead a team of experts, domain managers and project managers to develop and deliver Vodafone technical plans for MW, DWDM, Optical and MW Transport on both Access Backhaul and Core Backbone.
- Manage vendors maintaining healthy and productive relationship.
- Support Marketing and other Business stakeholders to deploy innovative services and solutions.
- Ensuring optimal network design is in place based on Vodafone group standards.
- Leading major transformation programs such as multilayer and multivendor automation of Transport.
- Ensure timely implementation of all Transport domains and capacity plans.
- Manage budget planning and realization in line with the financial targets of Vodafone.
- Create and maintain the hardware and software roadmap for the radio access network elements.
- Stay updated with the system and radio ancillary’s equipment vendor’s SW/HW roadmaps.
- Lead Technical RFQ, RFP and Vendors selection process.
- Manage vendors maintaining healthy and productive relationship.
- Support Marketing and other Business stakeholders to deploy innovative services and solutions meeting them.
Core competencies, knowledge and experience:
- Deep knowledge of MW Backhaul Access network
- Deep knowledge of DWDM both Metro and Backbone
- Deep knowledge of IP-MPLS Access Backhaul including Seamless-MPLS and Segment Routing
- Deep knowledge of IP Backbone CPN
- Capable of setting up an international interconnection strategy
- Familiar to Network Automation through Underlay SDN, Data Canter, SDN and SD-WAN
- Ability to lead a team of technical experts
- Deep knowledge of virtualization (NFV) and cloud arch
- Deep understanding of RFP/RFQ and vendor selection process
- Clear understanding for 5G Transport Network roadmap and standards
Must have technical / professional qualifications:
- BSC in Engineering
- Min 14 years’ experience on Transport planning in an operator environment
- Previous experience with large scale RFQ
- Goal oriented - sets and prioritize targets
- Solid experience of working within a complex business environment
- Communication and influencing skills – experienced in stakeholder management
