Job description

Position objectives:

To check and verify the Vendors Transport Plans and Designs to confirm that they meet network requirements. Includes Plans and Designs of new MW and Fibre links, preparation of specifications, design documents and resolving technical issues prepared by the Vendors.

    Report to Planning and Engineering Director or his delegate.  
    Review and approve Plans and Designs for MW transport links in the RAN as required by the project.
    Verify Plans and Designs utilising the approved Design criteria, spectrum and network KPIs.
    Verify materials and equipment included in the Design, in the BoQs and BOMs
    To assist the Engineering Manager with Project planning and scheduling.
    Review the vendor’s proposed Acceptance test cases and recommend complementary tests as appropriate.
    To review MW and Fibre protection and redundancy architecture and provide appropriate recommendations.
    Identify disputed technical items and provide the appropriate advice for their resolution.
    Coordinate and clarify technical queries with vendors and contractors.
    Review and recommend technical change orders.
    Represent project team in meetings with vendors and contractors.
    Meet internal KPIs for the review and approval process
    Ensure activities are programmed to support the overall schedule for network deployment.

Desired Skills and Experience

    Minimum 7 years’ experience with either a telecom major equipment Vendor or an Operator

    Appropriate Technical Degree in Telecoms or similar from a recognised institution. 

    Experience of Planning and Designing packet-based IP Transport systems for 3G/4G networks for large network deployments.

    Direct working design experience with SDH and Ethernet based MW & Fibre solutions and technologies.

    Ability to provide strong technical feedback and recommendations.

    Strong communications skills, ability to communicate clearly, verbally and in writing in the English language
    Experience of working in South East Asia is an asset.
